In the beginning...
Editor's note: One of the few rules given me at the year's beginning was, "Do not write editorials." But this, after all, is the last issue. So what can be done? - RRK
In the beginning, God created the ridge. Now the ridge was a formless void, and snow and pollen covered the ridge. And God separated the snow and the pollen, and the snow God called “Winter,” and the pollen God called “Spring.” And God saw that it was good. And there was evening. And there was morning. First day.
And God said, “Let there be Schmucker.” And there was Schmucker. And God said to Schmucker, “Make a seminary on the ridge, and let it have brick buildings with cupolas, and a large statue of a sitting Luther, and croquet.” And so Schmucker made a seminary on the ridge, and it had brick buildings with cupolas, and a large statue of a sitting Luther, and croquet. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening. And there was morning. Second day.
And God said, “Let there be people running the seminary, some very wise who might seem mindless, and the wisest to keep the seminary going.” And there were people running the seminary. And God called the very wise who sometimes seem mindless “Faculty.” And God called the wisest who keep the seminary going “Staff.” And God saw that it was good. And there was evening. And there was morning. Third day.
And God said, “Let there be students to populate the seminary, and let some be worried about CPE, and others worried about internship, and others worried about approval, and others worried about assignment.” And there were students. And God called the students worried about CPE “Juniors,” and the students worried about internship “Middlers,” and the students worried about approval “Interns,” and the students worried about assignment “Seniors.” And God said to the students, “Be fruitful and multiply (but only within V&E), and fill the seminary and subdue it.”
And God said, “It is not good for the students to be alone, for they shall come to be bold, and think that they are gods. Therefore, let there be resident aliens in their midst, to antagonize them and humble them.” And so there were tourists. And the tourists swarmed upon the ridge. On Segways, on horseback, in campers, the tourists swarmed. And the students murmured to God, “Why hast thou sent these tourists among us, for they are much annoying. Let us smite the tourists!” But God said, “Thou shalt not smite the tourists, but thou shalt be kind to the resident aliens in your midst, for I have given them to you to antagonize and humble you, so that you might know that I am God.” And so the students did not smite the tourists. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening. And there was morning. Fourth day.
And God said, “Let there be a way to keep the students informed about class meetings and job opportunities and missing keys.” And there was the Redactor. And the Redactor kept the students informed about class meetings and job opportunities and missing keys, even if the students were hard of heart and did not always read the Redactor. But God saw that the Redactor was good. And there was evening. And there was morning. Fifth day.
And God said, “It is not right that the students should remain on the ridge forever, so let there be a time when they shall move on to new areas of my calling.” And there was Commencement. Now there was great rejoicing at Commencement, but there was also wailing and gnashing of teeth, for friends were parting and routines were changing. But God saw that it was good. And there was evening. And there was morning. Sixth day.
And on the seventh day, God looked back upon all that God had made. And God, like the students finishing exams, was very tired. And so God rested from all the work that God had done. And God blessed the seventh day, for God rested. And the rest was very, very good indeed.

In order for the pantry to operate during the summer, we need volunteers who will be on campus and available to open it on a regular basis. Lawn treatment to take place Friday
TruGreen lawn services will be applying spring fertilization and weed control on the campus grounds this Friday. TruGreen advises customers to keep pets off the sprayed areas until they are dry, not only to reduce exposure to the pets but also to reduce tracking residue into the home. However, if your pets happen to get on the treated area before the grass has dried, the risk of harm is negligible. After the treated area has dried, the amount of residue is greatly reduced. The products used by TruGreen generally contain the same active ingredients as found in items sold at retail garden and hardware stores.
