Once again we are facing a winter storm warning for Thursday with a potential of 8 to 12 inches of snow. The Seminary is anticipating being open due to the Intern Matching Workshop guests who will be arriving today and for classes scheduled for Thursday. The policy for inclement weather procedures is stated below. Again, we urge caution for those traveling to work. Flex time can be used and should be reported appropriately.
Biggerstaff’s is planning on serving meals, maintenance staff will be clearing snow and we expect to have the main switchboard staffed for the better part of the day.
Seminary Policy regarding weather issues:
In the event of inclement weather in Gettysburg and the surrounding area, which makes it hazardous for Seminary personnel to travel, senior staff may determine to close administrative offices and cancel scheduled programs. Notification will be posted on the Seminary website and distributed through other available media. Under such circumstances, essential personnel (e.g. maintenance and grounds) will be expected to report for work at such time as it is safe to do so. Professors of scheduled classes will determine whether or not to hold class (on campus if safety permits or via residential course website and utilizing other available technology), and will make every effort to notify their students. In the event a class is held, all reasonable efforts will be made to deliver course materials to those who were unable to attend. In making decisions whether or not to travel or move about on campus under potentially hazardous conditions, all members of the Seminary community are encouraged to give utmost attention to their own and others’ safety and well-being.
Weather related delays, cancellation of classes or closing of offices will be announced via the Seminary’s web site: www.ltsg.edu; on email through the Redactor list serve (Email); Off Campus methods we use include broadcasters on WITF (radio) and WGAL NBC 8, and ABC 27 (television). We will also be placing any weather related news on the seminary’s text messaging system and the seminary’s page on Facebook. If there is no one staffing the phone on the school’s main switchboard, there will be a phone message indicating any decision for delay or closing.
