You probably need to install the latest version of Java. Go to http://java.com and click on the "Free Java Download" button to install the latest version of Java.

If you experience this problem choose the Save option rather than the Open option. When the Save option is selected, instead of trying to open the document from the website, the document downloads to your computer.  It can then  be opened normally. Make sure to keep track of where you saved your document to so you can find it again.

Internet Explorer may be blocking file downloading. If it is, a yellow bar will appear at the top of the screen indicating this. Click on the bar and allow downloads. You will be reset to the course homepage and will have to find the document again, but it should open now.

For most Fisher's Net users your will be the first eight letters of your last name followed by the first two letter of you first name. For Example: Martin Luther would log in as lutherma. The user name is not case sensitive, but your password is case sensitive. If you don't know or forgot your password use the "Forgot Your Password?" link on the Fisher's Net homepage. You will be sent a link to the email address listed in Fisher's Net for you with a link to reset your password.

This is a security feature new to Office 2007 and Office 2010 that we have just encountered starting the Fall of 2011.  If you click the "No" on both dialog boxes that appear the document should open on its own.

A second option that should  always work is to choose to save the document rather than open it directly into Office.  Once you have saved the document to your computer open it as you would any other document.
