Biography: The Rev. Kathleen O’Keefe Reed serves as the Seminary's Chief Advancement officer, focusing on the overall support and advancement of the seminary's relationships with friends and supporters. Prior to returning to Gettysburg in spring, 2007, the Chicago native had served for 25 years as a pastor of congregations in Connecticut, Vermont, and Massachusetts. Between 1992 and 2000, she served as Assistant to the Bishop of the New England Synod. Reed is a graduate of Boston University (B.S. in Public Communication) and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (M.Div., 1980). Her theological studies included Gettysburg Seminary’s Washington House of Studies, the Bodelschwinghschen Anstatalten of Bethel in Bielefeld, Germany, and Georg August Universitaet, in Goettingen, Germany. She has also studied at Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English. Reed is married to Gettysburg Seminary alumnus and church musician, Stephen Reed (’78). They have three adult children. Her baptismal anniversary is September 21, the Feast of Saint Matthew.
