August 12, 2014 (Gettysburg, Penn.) The Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra, Schola Cantorum of Gettysburg, Felix Hell, the Metta Ensemble, Wayne Hill and friends as well as the Boston Shawm and Sackbut Ensemble are among the highlights of the 2014-2015 Music, Gettysburg! concert season announced this week.

The Music, Gettysburg! steering committee, led by Dr. Mark Oldenburg, officially announced its 35th season schedule by mail this week to nearly 1500 households featuring its fall “opening” concert by the Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra and the monumental music of Gustav Mahler September 14th at 4pm in the  Gettysburg Seminary chapel.

The musical series plans 16 concerts in the coming season, including regular performers such as organists Felix Hell and Reilly Lewis, baritone Wayne Hill, soprano Pamela Cooper-White, the 30-voice Schola Cantorum of Gettysburg directed by Stephen Folkemer and consummate story-telling folk music specialists Kim and Reggie Harris. The season also includes tenor Jeff Fahnestock and guitarist James Hontz, the return of Burns Night, pianist Grace Eun Hae Kim, and the early music specialists of the Boston Shawm and Sackbut Ensemble. The Gettysburg College Choir makes its first featured appearance on the Music, Gettysburg! stage following its spring tour and we welcome the award winning Windsbacher Knabenchor from Bavaria, Germany this fall.

The Atwater Donnelly Duo plays next in the series, August 24th concluding the summer concerts on the Hill Unger Platform in the Schmucker House Grove, 6pm.

Music, Gettysburg! will enter its 35th season offering these and more concerts free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of individuals and corporate partners who join with the Lutheran Theological Seminary to make fine music possible.

Music, Gettysburg! is a premier concert series featuring international, regional and local musical artists for the greater south central Pennsylvania region. The Seminary Chapel is on Seminary Ridge in Gettysburg.
