Seminary Publishes New Indexes of ELCA Region 8 Archives

archives-R8.jpg(Gettysburg, Penna.)  The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Region 8 Archives, which is located at the A. R. Wentz Library, recently completed an online index of church records in its collections. Patrons can view the index at this link:

http://www.ltsg.edu/Resources/Wentz-Library/Region8Archives/collections.

The index is organized by state/metropolitan area and then by county to make it easier to find specific congregations. We hope that this index will be useful for patrons to learn about the church records that are available in the Region 8 Archives collections. Please review this valuable site, and if there is a record you would like to see and utilize for your research, contact the archives assistant for an appointment at region8archives@ltsg.edu. The assistant will respond on the days on which he is on duty.

Region 8 consists of eight synods of the ELCA, including Lower Susquehanna, Upper Susquehanna, Allegheny, Southwest Pennsylvania, Northwest Pennsylvania, Delaware Maryland, Western Maryland-West Virginia, and the Metropolitan DC synods.
