Seminary Names LeGros as Interim Admissions Director

legros-jean_web.jpgThe Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg announced that Ms. Jean LeGros will serve as Interim Director of Admissions for the Seminary.  Earlier this month, former lead admissions staff member Pastor Ginny Price was called to serve as Pastor of New Hope Lutheran Church, Columbia, MD.

Ms. Jean LeGros, current member of the Advancement Office staff, receiving a Masters in Religion from Gettysburg Seminary in 2010, has a good understanding of both admissions and theological education.   “I’m pleased to serve Gettysburg Seminary in this new way,” she said, “and especially to work with prospective students in their discernment process about theological education.”

President Michael Cooper-White shared his delight in the announcement, “I am delighted to share the news that our colleague Jean LeGros will be spending part of her time in the Admissions Office as its Interim Director.  While many may be aware that before she came to the Seminary as a student, Jean worked in development and alumni relations at Gettysburg College, it’s probably lesser known that prior to that work she was the College’s Associate Director of Admissions, and also worked in a similar position at Holyoke College in Amherst, Mass. earlier in her career.  Thus, we have an experienced “pro” stepping in to work with the other colleagues in sustaining our momentum in Admissions.”

LeGros has the benefit of ongoing consultation with outgoing director Pastor Ginny Price, as well as two experienced staff members in Admissions, Ms. Julie Stecker and Ms. Susie Kowalski.  LeGros will continue to spend time in her regular duties in the Seminary’s Advancement office.

Known in greater Gettysburg for her work in the arts, LeGros received a “Callie” award earlier this year from the United Way of Adams County. She is also serving in the leadership of her congregation as Clerk of Session at the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church.
