A.R. Wentz Library

The A.R. Wentz Library, serving the oldest of the eight seminaries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)  traces its beginnings to the commissioning of Benjamin Kurtz by the Evangelical Lutheran General Synod (of the United States of North America) to go to Europe to solicit contributions of money and books for its new seminary located in Gettysburg. Originally located in the seminary’s main classroom and office building, the Wentz Library was built in 1947 when modern facilities were paramount to the growing seminary.

CHARGE A BOOK TO YOURSELF
AFTER HOURS

For those who have been granted after-hours access to the library (and ONLY for these individuals), the library now has a paper form at the circulation desk for you to "self-charge" a book or bound periodical to yourself.  This procedure will help to account for all the books taken from the library.  (You may NOT charge a book to or for anyone else but yourself.)

General stacks books will circulate for the semester, whereas bound periodicals and Reserve books can circulate overnight and be due the next morning by 9:00 a.m., hand-carried to the circulation desk.

Current periodicals (anything unbound) may not leave the Periodicals Room.

If you have any questions about this new service, please see a library staff member.
