From the President Who will prepare faithful, courageous leaders for the Church of the future? It was that question which prompted my first predecessor, Samuel Simon Schmucker, and his cohorts to respond, “We will!” as they founded Gettysburg Seminary more than 180 years ago. No school, congregation, business or public entity can fulfill its mission without adequate resources. The Seminary needs people, a physical plant, books, computers—and yes money!—to fulfill our call to prepare women and men for ministry. To raise sorely-needed additional funds—both for current budget and longer-term capital needs—we have launched the Seminary’s first major fundraising effort of this century. Through our Crossroads Campaign we will raise the level of support to sustain this “school for the prophets.” You hold in your hands our success in achieving the bold goals envisioned in the Crossroads Campaign. The real answer to the question of who will prepare leaders is “we all will!” I thank you for the privilege of extending this invitation to consider a personal gift, and to invite others to join you in a generous response.
