Creating an Endowed Fund

The Seminary Endowment is made up of undesignated funds, funds designated for student scholarship support and faculty support, and individual funds established by donors for a specific purpose.

Types of specific purpose endowment funds include:

Endowed Faculty Chairs.  In order to provide the necessary annual income, a fully endowed academic chair needs to have a minimum endowment of $2 million.

Visiting Professorships.  In order to provide the necessary annual income, a visiting professorship needs to have a minimum endowment of at least $1 million.

Historical Building Preservation.  In order to provide a meaningful annual income, this type of fund needs to have a minimum corpus of $25,000.

Library.  In order to provide a meaningful annual income, this type of fund needs to have a minimum corpus of $25,000.

Scholarships.  In order to provide a meaningful annual income, a scholarship fund needs to have a minimum corpus of $25,000;  a "full tuition" scholarship fund needs to have a minimum corpus of $250,000.

The seminary is happy to work with prospective donors on the terms and conditions of other specific purpose endowment funds provided they are consonant with the mission and policies of the seminary and are large enough to yield a meaningful annual income.  These would typically require a minimum corpus of $25,000.
