Spirit Week Focuses on Student Scholarships

Dear Faithful FrOGS!

Please join us in solidarity Monday, February 28 to Friday, March 4 for Gettysburg Seminary’s annual scholarship support campaign kick-off, Spirit Week!

What is SPIRIT WEEK?
SPIRIT WEEK is a time on campus when all are invited to unified joyful participation in raising much-needed scholarship assistance for LTSG seminarians. For a small daily gift, members and friends of the Gettysburg Seminary community give themselves permission to become “Fools for Christ.” Each day brings a humorous new theme to guide creative apparel choices as we become partners in sharing the good news of being “clothed in Christ.”

2012 Scholarship Appeal: "Be present at our table, Lord"

FrOGS_logo_web.gifWe need to make our table bigger

Have you ever seen a table grow by breaking open in the middle so leaves can be added and more seating created?  Your gift to the Student Scholarship Fund is like a leaf that makes room  at our table for more  gifted women and men hungry to learn how best to serve as leaders in Christ’s church.

The need to grow the table is urgent.  A leadership shortage is looming as 50% of pastors hit retirement age in the next few years. To meet the need, Gettysburg Seminary wants to double the seating capacity at our tables of learning.  Because God calls people to ministry without regard to wealth and the vast majority of our students are very modest means, we must also grow scholarships.  Help us reach our goal of $100,000 which will extend the table to grow our enrollment by 20 new seminarians.  Please be generous as you can and join your voice with our as we pray,

Be present at our table Lord.  Be here and everywhere adored.

"As an Admissions Associate and a student, I experience both sides of the generosity of scholarship giving. The gifts the seminary receives make a lasting impact on our lives as students here. Not having to worry about working a second or third job to make ends meet allows us the space to do what it is we are called to do here – to be students, to learn and grow in our faith and our call to be a leader of the church."
